The practice of Centering Prayer and its spiritual\, historical and psychological basis is described in the works of Fr. Thomas Keating\, including Open Heart\, Open Mind. Centering Prayer deepens the 12-Step practice generally\, and the 11th Step specifically\, through daily immersion in prayer and meditation. This retreat is designed for people who participate in any 12-Step program\, or for those who support recovery and have the intention to improve their meditation practice and enlarge their spiritual life. St. Mary’s Sewanee is located on the beautiful southern peaks of the Cumberland Plateau in Sewanee TN on the “New Hope Bluff.” Comfortable\, quiet and private accommodations\, along with nourishing and healthy meals are provided. Hiking trails and an outdoor labyrinth are available. DESCRIPTION:June 10-19\, 2025 \nSponsored by 12 Step Outreach & Contemplative Outreach \nFor 12 Step Participants \nCome rest in the stillness of prayer with other contemplative companions\, away from the busyness of daily life\, and allow the mind\, body\, and spirit to surrender to your Higher Power’s presence and action within. \nThis retreat offers two tracks simultaneously: Intensive I and Post Intensive.  For everyone\, there will be 3 sets of two 30-minute periods of Centering Prayer daily. The Intensive I retreat will watch video talks from Fr. Thomas Keating’s Spiritual Journey\, focusing on “The Human Condition and the Spiritual Journey”. The Post Intensive retreat has no videos and an additional hour of Centering Prayer each day.  You choose the track that works best for you.  Any of the tracks may be repeated multiple times.  If this is your first Centering Prayer retreat of this length\, we suggest you choose Intensive I. \nThe retreat will be facilitated by Fr. Bill Sheehan\, OMI\, Marty B. and Jenny A. \nThe Retreat begins Tuesday\, June 10  with registration from 3:00 to 5:00\, an opening session at 5:00pm\, and dinner at 6:00pm. We end on Wednesday\, June 18 at 11:00am. Service meetings will begin after lunch on Wednesday and continue until lunch on Thursday (bag lunch optional).
